The White Domes Trail
In 2014, I took a week-long trip out to Las Vega, Nevada for the 2014 International Virtual Reality Photographers Association conference. On one of the last days of the photography conference, a few photographers and I took a trip out to the Valley of Fire. While we were out in the Valley of Fire State Park, one of the stops was the White Domes Trail. You can view some of the 360-degree panoramic images I created while I was there.
Click here to view it in fullscreen.
Equipment used to capture the 360-degree panoramic images:
- Canon EOS 5D MKII
- Sigma 8mm Fisheye
- 360precision Atome head
- Manfrotto tripod
About the trail
The White Domes are sandstone formations with brilliant contrasting colors and a moderate 1.1-mi. hiking trail that combines sweeping desert vistas, a slot canyon, colors galore, windows, caves, and an old film set locale. The film set is from the movie The Professionals with Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, and Claudia Cardinale which was filmed in 1966. The Valley of Fire was one of three locations used in the film. All that remains of the set is a portion of a rock wall of a hacienda.
Trail facilities include Restrooms, parking, hiking trailhead, picnic shelter, and a group picnic area.
