ULA Successfully Launches The WGS 8 Satellite From Cape Canaveral, Florida.
On December 7, 2016, United Launch Alliance (ULA) successfully launched the WGS 8 satellite into orbit from Space Launch Complex 37 at the Cape Canaveral, Florida spaceport.
For this launch, I decided to go to the Robert Kelly Slater statue in Cocoa Beach as the 45th space wing and ULA did not allow any media to view/photograph the launch from the ITL citing safety concerns. The ITL causeway is the closest area nonessential personnel can get during a launch, which is roughly 2.5 miles away from the launch pad.
Below you can view the full-resolution 360° panoramic image of the Delta IV rocket streaking across the night sky in the background and the Kelly Slater statue in the foreground as cars drive by.
