Long Exposure Photography at Cocoa Beach

Sunday, April, 15th 2018 was not the best days for photography. Even though it was a cloudy, overcast and there were various storms throughout the day, I decided to adventure out and try to capture some images. Since this was not your typical beautiful sunny day in Florida, I decided I wanted to try to capture some fine art long exposure style images, for this, I choose my Canon 6d, Canon 24-105mm, Sigma 70-200mm, Variable ND filter and my sturdy Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod and sandbag. With all the equipment packed up in the SUV, I drove toward the beaches by Partick Air Force Base hoping to find something interesting to photograph with the waves. Stopping at Hangar’s Beach, I found a pile of Coquina rocks stacked up along the shore. This made for a great subject in the foreground with the motion of the waves in the background.

My second stop was to 2nd Light Beach, I had to stop here since I own a pair of 2nd Light RCI sunglasses. There was nothing really interesting along this beach so I stayed at the boardwalk and shot a few images from there.

After 2nd Light Beach, I headed to the world famous Cocoa Beach Pier to capture some more long exposure images.

Although I accidentally moved the ND filter when I was setting up the shot below giving it a weird vinette in the top left and bottom right of the image, this is one of my favorite from today’s adventure.
