About the waterfall
Located in Western North Carolina in the Pisgah National Forest, the Moore Cove Falls is a 50 feet waterfall that visitors can easily hike to. The name comes from Moore Cove and was named for Adam Q. Moore, who purchased the property. In 1891, the property was sold to George W. Vanderbilt for $155, roughly $5,000 today, to become part of the Pisgah National Forest. Water comes from Moore Creek and falls 50 feet from an overhang where visitors can walk behind the falls.
The waterfall is open to the public and accessed from the parking area along Highway 276. From the parking area, visitors will have to hike roughly 3/4 of a mile on a moderate-difficulty trail. Here are a few other waterfalls you might like, Walker Falls, Douglas Falls, Catawba Falls, or Crabtree Falls.
